November 9, 2007 The council Executive Board met today and reviewed the proposal of the Camp Utilization committee to put Camp Thunderbird on the market. After a lengthy and emotional discussion of the issues involved, and based upon a desire to create the best possible camping program for future generations of Scouts, the board voted 30-2 in favor of the Committee's resolution to sell Camp Thunderbird. This does NOT mean that Camp Thunderbird has been sold. Rather, a property marketing committee will be appointed by the Council President to proceed with and oversee the sale, and assure the most favorable terms. Disposition of sale proceeds will be determined by the Executive Board based upon the recommendations of the Long Range Strategic Planning Committee. Camp Thunderbird will continue to be available for use until it is sold. Details leading to the decision to put Camp Thunderbird up for sale may be found by clicking here. Camp Thunderbird is still open and providing great Scouting adventures.
